180 Proof: 2008 CD Release

This CD began as an idea in my head while driving back from Houston on yet another road trip. Stuck in the car for what was essentially a four hour trek up I-45 Highway north, I went back and listen to some the rock ‘n’ roll bands who had influenced me growing up. One common thread was obvious in the lyrics of their songs: Drinking and partying while playing on the road.

Watch John perform “Triple Shot” from his 2008 CD Release “180 Proof”.

They say that Everclear is almost 200 proof (95% alcohol) and is illegal in many states. For one to drink any substantial amount of Everclear would force a person to completely lose self control. My guitar playing on this CD is some of my tastiest ever. When you listen to the tracks, you’ll find that the playing is completely outrageous, while at the same time not being totally out of control.

I’d say it’s about 180 Proof… — John E. Davis

All original music was written, performed and composed by John E. Davis. John E. Davis uses DiMarzio pick-ups and GHS Boomer strings exclusively. Bass tracks were recorded on a Fender Precision Bass. Drums were recorded using a Boss – Dr. Rhythm Drum Machine.

Thanks to Michael Schenker and Jake E. Lee for all the various guitar ideas and musical concepts that made this CD possible.

Also special thanks to everyone who came to the studio to help with the recording of this CD. Also thanks goes out to all my friends who are a part of my existence, keeping up with correspondence, sending e-mails and helping with the daily operations of my crazy life. You know who you are. It’s your love and patience that makes all this music possible. I could not do it with out you.

To all my fans in the Shredder newsletter database who send in the comments and responses, Thank You.
