Madden NFL 2000 is a football video game developed by EA Tiburon. It was launched by EA Sports in 1999 for various platforms like PlayStation, Nintendo 64, and Microsoft Windows. Aspyr Media also released a version for Macintosh OS, making it the first football game ever adapted for Mac. In the first game of the 2000 season, the San Diego Chargers face off against the Oakland Raiders. This video is shown on the Apple Macintosh.

The Chargers–Raiders rivalry is a National Football League (NFL) rivalry between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Las Vegas Raiders. This rivalry has spanned two leagues and involved a total of five relocations. The teams made their debut in the first AFL season in 1960, known then as the Oakland Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers in the AFL Western Conference; a decade later, both teams became part of the AFC West following the AFL–NFL merger.

Madden NFL 2000 is categorized as a football video game. It is the fourth 3D installment in the Madden NFL series and the second game in the franchise that does not feature John Madden exclusively on the cover in North America (the only other instance being Madden NFL ’95). Typically, Madden is prominently featured on the cover, alongside a well-known image of Barry Sanders in an action shot in the background. The European PAL edition only displays Dorsey Levens on its cover. The introductory video in the CD-ROM versions includes an unnamed track by rapper Ludacris.

Madden NFL PS1 Franchise Mode

The franchise mode in Madden NFL 2000 has received some upgrades, allowing multiple owners to join the same season. Unlike its predecessor, this version lets users delegate off-season tasks to the CPU, such as re-signing or releasing players and drafting new talent. For the second year in a row, created players cannot be added to their teams or the free agent list. Before starting a franchise, players must include all 31 coaches from the 1999 NFL season, which is a requirement unique to the PC.
