The Beginner Guitar Student starts with both basic strumming and scale exercises to improving the technique and accuracy in your playing. We pair correct technique exercises with Major and Minor Open Chords to learn a variety or popular songs. Here we start finger exercises to increase strength and dexterity, moving toward pentatonic scales and blues riffs.
Chord Building & Chord Progressions – Here we progress to chord progressions with the metronome and practice speed strumming interval training. Students learn their first song Spanish Guitar and basic down stroke strumming. Power Chords are introduced. Tablature notation reading is introduced.
Guitar Riffing and Song Practice – Students request three song riffs they want to learn and we pair that with three Open Chord Song Riffs and three Power Chord Song Riffs included in course instruction. Student jam Open Chord riffs at actual song tempos with a tempo meter.
Songs learned are Back in Black by AC/DC, Neon Moon by Brooks and Dunn, You Shook Me All Night Long by AC/DC and Let It Be by The Beatles. Students also pick three songs of their own to learn.
The Beginner Lead Guitar Student starts with 12-Bar blues riff sequence as well and introduce the basics of the Major and Minor Pentatonic scales. Students learn to jam these scales over various chord progressions in specified keys. Full diatonic scales as well as expanded soloing techniques are taught as well.
